‘Happiness’ comes to Alloa again!

The annual Resonate Together ‘Happiness Festival’ begins on Tuesday 7 April and Resonate Arts House is delighted to welcome the Lord-Lieutenant of Clackmannanshire, Lt Col Johnny Stewart, to open it at 1pm.

Between 1-4pm, everyone is invited to take part in glass painting, a sing along with The Wee Chorus (an eclectic mix of show tunes, folk tunes and all things happy), quick-foam printing and enjoy tasty refreshments from the in-house buffet.

The Happiness Festival provides a whole month worth of fantastic arts, crafts and wellbeing sessions. All are free to the public and are self-funded by the artists and teachers supported by a growing team of volunteers.

People of all ages are welcome to lunchtime ‘Make n Take’ arts/crafts sessions: an hour to ‘Take’ time for yourself and ‘Make’ new friends. No experience is required and all materials are included.  Wellbeing sessions for the inner person include tai chi, meditation and chi gung, plus a ‘Living it Up’ class.

The ‘Happiness Festival Art Exhibition’ in the Swarm Gallery will highlight the talents of local artists and feature many works with a local theme.

The first two weeks of the festival coincide with the school holidays so the activities in these weeks are suitable for both children and adults, aiming at getting children away from the television or computer to use their creativity instead.

There will be ‘big drawing’, painting, felting, sewing, fabric bag painting, salt dough modelling and quick-foam printing.

The second two weeks are more suitable for adults, and there are sessions for all ages and interests, from portraiture to Mod Roc jewellery, needle felting to making wire-wrapped jewellery charms, textile dream catchers to extreme knitting and nuno felting.

During the festival all the usual Resonate activities will be taking place, including the painting club, the singing group, the sewing club, photography group, wood-turning, meditation, music-jamming sessions, meetings of the Forth Valley Reptile Club, and tai chi.

If you have never tried any creative activity before or just want to meet people, then check out the programme at Resonate Arts House in Units 3 & 4, North Castle Street, Alloa. Call 01259 981014 or check out www.resonatetogether.org.uk.
