When Yvonne Jarvis booked her first fitness test at the Leisure Bowl over 20 years ago, little did anyone know the profound and positive effect she would have on their lives for years to come.

Yvonne sadly passed away in January this year, and her happy, boundless enthusiasm is very much missed. Fellow fitness instructor and close friend Maria described Yvonne’s absence as a light that has been put out.

However as tribute to such a joyful and upbeat person, a fundraising night is set to take place at the Leisure Bowl this Saturday (4 April) in Yvonne’s memory.

The fundraiser will be held in the bar area from 7pm-11pm. Entertainment on the night will include Lisa Lee and there will also be a disco.

Raffle tickets are priced at £2 each and all proceeds will go to Macmillan Cancer Support. Prizes include a laptop and a monthly mega membership for the leisure bowl.

Yvonne Jarvis worked at the Leisure Bowl for over 23 years, working in many different departments. She was a supervisor of the ladies gym, sunbeds and toning tables and a gym instructor for both ladies and mixed gyms. Yvonne also taught line dancing and worked at reception.

Mike Mulraney and Alex Brown were managers at the Leisure Bowl when Yvonne started working there. Alex said: “As managers of the Leisure Bowl during the time Yvonne worked with Apex Leisure Management and Wasp Leisure, we always regarded her as a conscientious, loyal, valued and reliable member of staff who was very much liked by her colleagues and customers.

“She worked in many different roles within the Leisure Bowl and always displayed a sense of fun. She is missed very much by all who knew her.” Show your support and head along to the Leisure Bowl this Saturday for a night of fun and laughter for a very worthwhile cause.
