If you are interested in becoming a life guard, then this is the course for you.

From the 25-29 May, The Leisure Bowl is running a lifeguard qualification course. The RLSS course is a nationally recognised award. It includes a range of water rescue skills as well as information related to lifeguarding in a swimming pool.

The course covers current resuscitation protocol, basic first aid, communication, teamwork, understanding of pool operating procedures and hazards as well as defibrillator training.

Running from 9am until 5pm with the exam on Friday, all days must be attended. Limited spaces are available and will be given on a first come first served basis.

The course costs £225 and must be paid in full by course start date. To qualify, you must be aged 16 or over at the time of taking the NPLQ assessment.

You must be able to jump and dive into deep water, swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds and swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water. As well as this, you must be able to tread water for 30 seconds, surface dive to the floor of the pool and climb out unaided without a ladder or steps.
