Hotel Giant 2

PC

One of the first games I ever fell in love with was Sim Tower on the PC. Hotel Giant 2 brings the spirit of Sim Tower into the 21st Century, the kind of game which you start off thinking you'll play for ten minutes before sitting at the PC for an entire night.
Want to welcome your guests to the Hotel California? Well you can with somewhere in LA. Or if you'd rather go with something a bit more classically European you could go with Rome or Paris.
There are effectively three elements to the game. You must build and customise your hotel, choosing where to put the swimming pool, what kind of restaurant you're having and such like. Then you need to manage your staff and keep your customers happy to ensure the hotel keeps ticking over as well as possible, raking in the cash and ensuring you get those coveted five stars.
You start off with a rather tatty looking inn and eventually – with hard work and a lot of renovating – can becoming head of a massive hotel chain.
While the graphics are a bit chunky looking and the music is, frankly, very irritating indeed, this is a very fun game that you'll get a good few hours pleasure from, particularly if you're a fan of the sim genre generally.
Four stars
