Various Artists: Made in Britain

Cashing in on Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee celebration, this Made in Britain compilation features some of the best tracks from around the UK. Amongst the 51 songs there's a little Britpop; Oasis (Don't Look Back In Anger), The Charlatans (Love Is The Key), Kula Shaker (Hush), Pulp (Do You Remember The First Time?). Some Madchester; The Stone Roses (I Wanna Be Adored), Happy Mondays (Step On). A handful of new wave and punk; The Cure (Friday I'm In Love), New Order (Blue Monday), The Jam (Town Called Malice), The Clash (London Calling). And a dash of indie-rock; Kasabian (Club Foot), Maximo Park (Our Velocity), The Vaccines (If You Wanna), The Libertines (Can't Stand Me Now). Although I still regard £10.99 (iTunes) expensive for a collection so old, this genuinely is a fine selection of our country's talent. On this occasion I'll let the price slide.

Spotify Playlist Recommendation:

I've created a sweet little playlist for the trip up north this weekend to RockNess. I've thrown in the usual Biffy, Mumford, Fallow and Ash tracks - alongside a few gems from the likes of The Drums, Little Comet, Metronomy and Lucy Rose. Whether you're going to the festival or not, this selection is well worth a listen. To access my RockNess 2012 playlist, go to http://open.spotify.com/user/jenster13/playlist/0eCDomD2AnI2qTClFTwkEe.
