RockNess 2012
The shores of Dores will be bouncing this summer as Biffy Clyro headline RockNess 2012.
The Scottish rockers will be joined by a host of other smashing acts, including Mumford & Sons, Deadmau5, Justice, Ed Sheeran, Noah & The Whale, Metronomy and NME 2011 Cool List winner Azealia Banks.
Set to the backdrop of Loch Ness, the Highland festival has attracted several impressive performers over the last six years. From Fatboy Slim, Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers to The Strokes, Vampire Weekend and Bombay Bicycle Club.
This will be Biffy's second Inverness outing having played on the Main Stage three years ago. The band (Simon Neil, Ben & James Johnston) said, "We are thrilled to be returning to RockNess in June, and this time we'll be headlining. The location is amazing and the enthusiastic crowd made for a memorable experience in 2009, so we're counting down the days until our return in 2012."
Fans can expect a sneak preview of new material as well as a showcase of their greatest hits.
Festival director Jim King is delighted with the line-up and cannot wait for the first tent peg to hit the ground. He said, "It was only a matter of time before we got lucky and were able to welcome Biffy Clyro back to Loch Ness. Since their debut they've gone on to become one of the biggest rock bands in the UK and on home turf you know they're going to produce something extra-spectacular. This announcement is just the start. We have heaps of great bands and DJs still to be revealed and the comedy headliner this year is an absolute corker. So, I'll call it first then; Mon the Biffy! Mon the 'Ness!"
Following its 2010 win, once again RockNess has been nominated for an NME Award for Best Small Festival. To vote, go to www.NME.com/AwardsVote. Winners will be announced on 29 February at the NME Awards 2012 ceremony at London's O2 Brixton Academy.
RockNess will take place 8-10 June. For more information and tickets, go to www.rockness.co.uk.
