Irish singer Heidi Talbot makes a welcome return to the Tolbooth, writes Jen Mitchell.

She told the Advertiser, "I've played there a handful of times in various different guises and always had a great time. Stirling audiences are full of fun and well up for a sing. I love having a walk around the town beforehand too, it's gorgeous and there's a great atmosphere."

Former lead singer with Cherish The Ladies, Co. Kildare native Heidi is right at home in the twin worlds of Irish traditional and roots music.

She has been nominated for two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, has toured with Idlewild, Eddi Reader and Michael McGoldrick, and launched a record (The Last Star) to rave reviews.

During her intimate Stirling performance, Heidi will be playing material from her upcoming album and will be joined by world-renowned multi-instrumentalist/producer John McCusker, Orcadian singer/guitarist Kris Drever and guitarist Ian Carr.

Heidi added, "I'm blessed to be surrounded by such great musicians and people. I like how a song can change when you perform it live versus recording or singing in your house. Songs take on a whole new energy and how the audience react is a good indication of how good a storyteller myself and the band are."

Heidi will be performing at the Tolbooth on Friday 7 September, 8pm. Tickets are £12/£10 and are available from tolbooth.stirling.gov.uk/tolbooth.htm or via the Box Office on 01786 274000.
