A rabbit in headlights
Frightened Rabbit will celebrate the release of their eagerly awaited EP with a homecoming show at Selkirk's Victoria Hall
State Hospital is scheduled for release next month ahead of the band's debut studio album with Atlantic Records - due out early 2013.
Lead vocalist Scott Hutchison said, "With the exception of State Hospital, this is a collection of songs that for one reason or another did not fit on the full-length record, either thematically or tonally.
"They're still four of our favourites, and they definitely represent the directions we've been pushing ourselves into with new material. We were inspired by fairly dissonant artists during the writing and recording of these songs, from Beak> to The Shins via Max Richter and Caribou.
"I think we've definitely darkened our corners a little with this EP."
Earlier this year the Glasgow-based band took a break from the sessions to fulfil a lifelong dream of performing in the historic Highlands. An accompanying short film was created, capturing life on the road, and will be available to watch soon.
FR's UK dates are 18 September (London, 93 Feet East), 19 September (Manchester, Deaf Institute), 24 September (Dumfries, The Venue) and 25 September (Selkirk, Victoria Hall).
Furthermore, they will support Biffy Clyro at the iTunes Festival on 22 September, which will take place at London's Roundhouse.
State Hospital will be released on 24 September. For more information, go to frightenedrabbit.com or www.facebook.com/frightenedrabbit. For videos, head to www.youtube.com/user/frabbittv.
