Alva’s Old Kirkyard; Gravestone Conservation and Data Recording
Tuesday 22 October, Wednesday 6 November, Sunday 10 November
OLP have completed volunteer conservation and restoration work in Tillicoultry’s Upper Kirkyard and Tait’s Tomb, but there is still work to do in Alva’s Old Kirkyard. The ultimate aim is to undertake basic stone conservation and data recording at each of the graveyards that will become part of The Kirkyards Trail, with on-site interpretation, leaflets and online information. You will help to clear, clean and record. Join in for as long or as short a time as you like. Email email@example.com to book your space and so as the proper equipment can be organised. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing, stout footwear and take a packed lunch.
Alva Glen Workday
Sunday 3 November, 11am-1pm
Volunteers working with Alva Glen Heritage Trust will continue their efforts to spruce up the area. Please feel free to join in. The group meet at 11am in the Glen and generally continue until 1pm. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
Path Maintenance with the Ramblers (River Devon Trail)
Saturday 16 November, 10am-3pm
In conjunction with the Ramblers, volunteers will do some path maintenance on a section of the River Devon Trail. Prepare to cut back vegetation and litter pick. It’s a way of putting a little back into the local environment and to help maintain the area. Meet at Sterling Mills car park, Tillicoultry. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather conditions.
