Following the success of Pirates! earlier this year, the amateur dramatic group have chosen to continue the nautical theme with the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic.
Lindsey Spowage, who will lead the same successful team that produced AMP’s Pirates! and Guys and Dolls, said, “Seeing Trevor Nunn’s stage production a few years ago showed me how successfully this show, which deals with some complex issues, could be performed without losing the knock-about fun, the GI beefcakes and the thrill of the musical score.” Cast member Rob McDermott added, “I’m really looking forward to performing in South Pacific. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun, hard work but overall a great show as usual.” Rehearsals will start in September for a March 2015 premiere date.
