Friends alum David Schwimmer has been tapped to play Robert Kardashian in FX’s American Crime: People v. OJ Simpson.
The first season of the anthology from American Horror Story creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk is based on Jeffrey Toobin’s best-selling book The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson.
The 10 episodes will examine the O.J. Simpson trial as told from the perspective of the lawyers and is poised to explore the chaotic behind-the-scenes dealings and manoeuvring on both sides of the court. It will display how a combination of prosecution confidence, defence wiliness and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
Schwimmer is set to star as Simpson’s friend and attorney Robert Kardashian – Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob’s dad.
He joins a cast that includes Cuba Gooding Jr as Simpson and American Horror Story favourite Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark.
Production is expected to begin early this year in Los Angeles.
