CODY FEECHAN returns next month with the release of her latest single State of Confusion.

The Fife singer will release the track on Friday, August 6, as she builds for a return to live performances.

Feechan enjoyed huge success with her last single Breathe, which reached number 2 on the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart and number 1 in the Amazon Music Best Sellers and Hot New Releases for Folk.

State of Confusion was written several years ago and developed over time. It has been a feature of Feechan's set, both on acoustic shows and as a full band.

It was recorded in February 2021 at 45 A-Side in Glasgow. It was produced and mixed by Bruce Rintoul, and mastered by Katie Tavini.

Feechan said: “The song is about the breakdown of a relationship – a relationship that once seemed perfect, turning upside down and becoming unrecognisable. The 'state of confusion' refers to being very puzzled by what has happened and the uneasy decision to walk away for the better.

“Despite the track being about a breakup, it's actually quite upbeat and has a happy, summer vibe to it. The band are amazing and I think together we capture such a great energy in this single. Some of the songs I have released so far have been slower, so I'm quite excited to share a more upbeat track – and right in the midst of summer.”

Feechan will take the stage at a number of festivals this summer including Capers in Cannich in the Highlands, Gateways Festival in Skipton, and Fringe by the Sea Festival in North Berwick. She will also be performing alongside Skerryvore and Mànran at Reid Hall in Forfar in December.

State of Confusion will be available to stream and download on all digital platforms from Friday, August 6.
