IT IS WITH a certain sense of déjà vu that we hear the phrase "live music is back again" in Scotland.

However, the doors have re-opened - once again - and fans back down the front where they belong.

And bands are wasting no time either with a plethora of shows in the diary, with new artists and new music just waiting to be discovered.

Check out our handy guide to live music in Scotland over the next couple of weeks.

Tonight (Thurs, Jan 27)

Dancing on Tables + Wukasa + Kardo - King Tut's

The King Tut's New Year Revolution officially kicked off and continues well into next month, with some tremendous acts to see. Worth checking out Fife's own Dancing on Tables who kickstart their year on the hallowed stage.

The Riot Vans + La Maison + Primes - SWG3

An impressive trio of acts to catch at The Poetry Club this evening. We are very curious to see what they all achieve in 2022.

Gin Annie - Ivory Blacks, Glasgow

If you are looking for a rock show, you are in luck. Gin Annie are a bit of a "satisfaction-guaranteed" band and head to the big smoke this Friday ready to cause a bit of mayhem. The five-piece also play the MacArts Centre in Galashiels on Saturday and Bannermans in Edinburgh on Sunday.

Battle of the Bands - Room2, Glasgow

You cannot beat a Battle of the Bands. This showdown comes with the prize of a main stage slot at the Greenock all-dayer, opening for the likes of Kyle Falconer and Brownbear. Votes will be taken from the crowd on the night and from a poll that runs for two weeks. The event will also be broadcast on the B12 Over and Above YouTube channel.

Tickets: £6 on the door (click for more details).

The Deep Shining Sea (Supporting James tribute band Laid) - Bungalow, Paisley

Might not be a headliner, but worth mentioning that you can catch The Deep Shining Sea in Paisley this weekend. Another intriguing act to come out of Fife, Shorthouse laid down a marker with Walls End and followed-up in style with Lived. That's two good excuses already to pop along to PJs this Saturday - another being the chance to catch TamanFaya as well.
