ABERDEEN'S Monza Express return next month with new single Lady Belle.

The Granite City five-piece have not released since 2020, but will come storming back with their latest effort on March 11.

Their new track delves into the awkward frustration of one-way love – infatuation without reciprocation.

Frontman Fraser Bateman says of the track: "A friend of mine was telling me how he had a housemate he called Lady Belle who was wanting to be a bit more than friends but he didn't want to do anything and mess up his day-to-day routine.

"Whether that's true or not, I don't know, as he's always been very flexible with the truth in his stories. But I liked the name Lady Belle and thought there was a song in there.

"I think the protagonist is unsure because he's not ready to get involved or he's maybe already involved (got to be ambiguous in songs so more people relate) and clearly she's keen and he doesn't quite get why and is worried things will go too far and invariably someone's going to get hurt.

"Then by the end he's going to give in and is like "what the hell?" So you get the first "what the hell" sections translating as "I don't get it" and the last one is "sure why not?"

"Who hasn't been interested without it being reciprocated and who hasn't had someone interested but they just aren't feeling it?"

Lady Belle will be available from Friday, March 11.
