DOLLAR Academy pupils welcomed Stirling’s makar Anita Govan.
The celebrated poet spent four weeks in May and June working with Mrs Taylor’s English class following Naomi Langford-Thimm’s (FI) Stirling Council Heroes & Villains Creative Writing Competition win.
Anita took the class through several creative writing exercises, story-building workshops, poetry readings, discussions and performances.
The end result was a spectacular ‘flighting’ display - a choreographed battle of words and wits between the Lovers, Athenians, Fairies and Mechanicals - inspired by William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Zach Longberg (FI) loved it. He said, “It was great. You got to make fun of someone without getting into trouble. But it was also great because we became better at playing about with words and learning how to fit them together.”
