Forth Valley Reptile Club was recently awarded charitable status.
As an animal welfare charity, the group goes around various organisations with its animals to show people how they are kept in captivity and how this relates to the animals environment in the wild.
As part of Positive Clackmannanshire, Forth Valley Reptile Club (SC045142) are able to go out to local nurseries, clubs, pet shops and other organisations in order to let people know about the reptile keeping hobby in Scotland as well as passing on information on animal welfare.
On Thursday 22 October Brian and Tracy gave a talk and an animal handling session to the 9th Alloa Girl Guides at Moncrieff Church in Alloa. The animals that we were talking about were our own reptiles and arachnids and a variety of these were taken along: including (amongst others) a Leopard Tortoise, a Kenyan Sand Boa and a Chaco Golden Knee tarantula.
One Girl Guide, who had a milk snake at home, was pleased to be able to tell everybody how she keeps it.
FVRC meets four times a year, with the next meeting on 9 November 2014 at Resonate Arts House, Units 3 and 4, North Castle Street, Alloa, FK10 1EU at 1pm. This is open to everyone.
