A TULLIBODY teen is facing detention at HMYOI Polmont, Alloa Sheriff Court heard.

Zac Sneddon (17) was warned he already has one foot in custody after he appeared before Sheriff Derek O’Carroll on Thursday (October 30) for a breach of his community payback order.

Sneddon pleaded guilty to making offensive and racist comments at a Target Store in Stirling on 10 August, 2013.

On 15 October 2014 he failed to present himself as part of a supervision order.

David Maguire, defending, said: “He accepts a breach of his community payback order in that he failed to attend when required.

“There is an element of self-destruction button being pushed on behalf of Mr Sneddon. But reports show that he can engage with the court and he assures me that he will do so.” Sheriff O’Carroll deferred sentencing for three weeks to see if a restriction of liberty order may be applied.

He warned the youngster: “I’m afraid I don’t take nearly as rosy a view as your solicitor does.

“I think the best thing to do would be to adjourn for a few weeks to consider whether a restriction of liberty order may be appropriate, although I suspect that it won’t.

“It would be a real shame to have to jail you,” he added. “You are very intelligent and more than capable.

“It’s up to you, if you want to stay out of jail you can.

“If the reports come back and they are positive then it may be enough to keep you out. On the other hand, if you continue to muck us about then there will be no alternative.” Sneddon will also be subject to a supplementary criminal justice social work review and will re-appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on November 20.
