THE Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has launched a new text number for booking a free Home Fire Safety Visit (HFSV).
The new number is free to contact, just text FIRE to 80800.
With three-quarters of preventable fire deaths in Scotland over the last five years being people aged 50 years or over, SFRS are urging the community to think about older friends, relatives or neighbours who could benefit from a free visit.
Local firefighters will arrange to visit your home, or that of a friend or family member who require the service as part of a HFSV, making sure the property is as safe as possible from fire, providing fire safety advice specific to your home.
Firefighters will explain how to make an escape plan and they’ll test or fit smoke alarms where necessary – completely free of charge.
