A GYMNASTICS event aimed at getting more people into the sport made its Wee County debut last week.

Gymfest, a non-competitive event designed to help promote gymnastics for everyone, took place at Alva Academy.

Organised by the council’s sports development team and the Clackmannanshire Primary Schools Sports Association, the event was for both primary and secondary age groups with a focus on giving performers the opportunity to display their talents to their family, friends and other gymnasts in a stress-free and enjoyable setting.

There were over 700 spectators, staff and pupils of which 260 pupils took part from a total of 17 primary schools, Lornshill Academy and Lochies, making this a fully inclusive event for all pupils in the Wee County.

All teachers, coaches, and volunteers worked hard on preparing the pupils for the event which was evident in their fantastic displays.

A spokesperson for Clacks Council said: “Congratulations to all the pupils who took part and represented their schools, the gymnastics on display was of a high standard and all pupils should be very proud of themselves.”

The local authority also wished to pay thanks to Hillfoots Gymnastics Club who provided the equipment and technical support for the event, as well as refreshments for the many spectators.

If anyone has been inspired, sports development deliver gymnastics classes at various venues throughout Clackmannanshire.
