PEOPLE took the opportunity to snap up some hot deals at the weekend as a Wee County events business marked its eighth birthday.

Party People in Sauchie celebrated the occasion with an open day and plenty of discounts on Saturday, March 2, as boss John Dornan reflected on the past few years.

John explained the day was “absolutely brilliant” and said: “We’ve had a lot of new customers come in, we had some existing ones as well who were looking to add some things to their booking.

“It was great to see so many customers in, we filled a lot of dates in our diary.”

The event specialises in event hire services, often weddings, and narrowly missed out on a top accolade at this year’s Scottish Wedding Awards.

John started small and humble, originally in his mum’s garage, but rapid growth over the past years saw him move to bigger and bigger premises before landing in the current one on Sauchie’s Main Street.

Moving forward, he is about to throw himself into a facelift for the shopfront while he is also looking to enhance the offering online.

John added: “From day one the idea was to get the best quality product, even down to every little detail – we spend extra money and get the best balloons we can, they look better, they last longer.

“I think customers that know the difference and customers that are looking for something that’s a bit higher end and a bit better quality appreciate that and that’s been a real driver for our growth.”

For their support in the past eight years, John wanted to thank family, friends, customers and wife Sarah, who is also the in-house florist under the name The Flower Studio and scooped an award for Florist of the Year in the central region.
