A MAN has been charged following an alleged assault on a member of security staff at Alloa Sheriff Court last week.

Emergency services were called to Drysdale Street on Monday, March 25, and a GEOAmey employee was later seen being taken to an ambulance.

GEOAmey was awarded the contract for the Scottish court custody and prisoner escorting service earlier this year.

Police have since confirmed that an individual has been charged in relation to the incident.

A spokesperson said: "A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with the assault of a GEOAmey employee, in her twenties, near to Alloa Sheriff Court on March 25.

“The woman sustained an injury to her wrist as a result. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

When contacted about the incident, GEOAmey added: “We treat all persons in our custody with care and respect which means that thankfully, incidents of violence against our staff are rare.

“However, any occurrences or mistreatment of our employees is completely unacceptable.

"We will always report these matters to the Police, and offer full support to our staff.”
