A LODGE in Tullibody has donated a huge amount of money to the community’s centre as it looks to have its roof repaired.

The Tullibody Community Development Trust (TCDT) recently hosted a fantastic grand raffle which raised a staggering £3,619 due to the generous support of the community.

And now the Ladywell Lodge has pledged £1,500 towards the running and upkeep of the Tullibody Civic Centre.

Eck Stewart, representing the lodge, said: “Our members agreed to donate the money to the trust to enable them to continue to do the outstanding work they do to keep the Civic Centre open for the benefit of the people of Tullibody and Clackmannanshire.”

The donations didn’t stop there, however, as Braehead Golf Club presented a cheque to trustee Charlie Watt from the committee members.

Charlie said: “This is a very exciting time for us after all the work and generous support our community has shown us.

“Everyone who comes into the centre comments on how bright and welcoming it is now. We still have plenty of refurbishing and repairs to do and the generous donations and funding we have received will help us crack on with this.

“During the next few weeks the Trust will be focusing on getting the kitchen and café area refurbished and ready for the launch after the Easter holidays and organising the table tennis sessions, once all our PVG checks have come through.”

Janette McGowan, TCDT chair, added: “The only stumbling block we have at present is getting the sports hall roof repaired to get the hall open again. So many groups and clubs have asked when it will be back up and running.

“At time of writing all of our roofing contractor’s documents and risk assessments have been submitted to the council and the trust awaits approval from the council for our contractor to carry out the work.

“Meanwhile we are still looking for volunteers to get involved in running the centre and while the centre is quieter during the Easter holidays we’ll be doing some deep cleaning, please get in touch if you can lend a hand for a few hours.”
