A YOUNG Tullibody motor sport enthusiast is looking to add to his trophies on two wheels with the racing season kicking off at the weekend.

Fletcher McInally, 13, has been working to knock the seconds off his laps as he has been preparing for two Scottish 125 championships.

The youngster started out on mini motos around four years ago and, as the Advertiser reported in 2017, he finished third in the Junior C and Lightweight classes at the UK Mini Moto Championship.

He has since made the leap onto the bigger 125s which have proper six-speed gearing, last year passing his race license test at Knockhill with no issues.

Fletcher currently rides a 28bhp Aprilia RS125 and will be taking part in the Knockhill Motor Sports Club championship at the nearby Fife track while also contesting the Melville Club title at East Fortune Race Circuit.

It is the latter which will be kicking off this weekend from Friday, April 12., and he hopes to be among the frontrunners, potentially adding to his collection of silverware.

For Fletcher, it all started when sister Cadence won the pair a bike each at a competition looking to encourage more people to get on mini motos.

She has since turned her attention to gymnastics, but Fletcher has set his sights on becoming the next big thing in the world of racing.

He keeps active off the track as well and is an avid fan of the big series like MotoGP and Formula 1.

Fletcher's dad Alan, handily a mechanic by trade, could not be prouder of the progression of his son and both are helped by supportive mum Joanne in the pitlane.

Alan said: "He shows an interest in helping to ensure his bikes are ready for races and is very dedicated when it comes to racing.

"Myself and his mum have been backing him since day one with no sponsorship, but this season we will be seeking sponsorship from local companies to help him along the way in the championship."

Recent test runs at Knockhill have been promising with Fletcher making huge gains compared to last year's lap times.

Anyone looking to follow his progress, or indeed local businesses looking to sponsor the talented 13-year-old, are asked to find Fletcher McInally Racing on Facebook and get in touch there.
