AN ALLOA man accused of "maliciously defecating" in a police station and staging a dirty protest will go on trial this month.

The 33-year-old appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, April 29, where his solicitor, Kelly Howe, confirmed the defence team was ready to proceed to trial.

On March 14 last year, her client is alleged to have maliciously defecated on the floor of a cell in Falkirk Police Station, then smeared the excrement on the wall, windows and door of the cell.

He is also accused of acting in a threatening or abusive manner towards another man the day before, at an address in Tullibody, by uttering violent threats, banging on windows and attempting to enter a property through a window.

Both offences are alleged to have taken place while he was on bail.

The accused, of Ashley Terrace, denies all charges.

The trial will commence on May 14.
