FIVE staff members of Alloa’s McDonald’s restaurant helped give the town a “spring refresh” by litter picking last month.

The team filled six bags worth of rubbish found around Alloa Tower and the nearby skate park.

The initiative was part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s (KSB) national Spring Clean campaign, which encourages local communities to pull together to tackle the scourge of litter.

KSB works to improve the quality of people’s lives, and the places they live in, by making Scotland cleaner and greener for its inhabitants.

Laura Doherty, McDonald’s’ community manager who organised the clean-up, said: “McDonald’s has been organising environment events in Alloa for over seven years, and we’re proud of our litter fighting heritage.

“It’s more important than ever that we continue to tackle the issue of litter and I would like to thank the team of volunteers who gave up their time to make a difference in Alloa.”

McDonald’s plan to hold further litter picking events throughout the upcoming summer months.
