THE Hillfoots is bracing itself for an invasion of comic and cartoon characters for this weekend’s Alva Fun Day.

The annual event, organised by Alva Community Council, is set to return on Saturday, May 25, with a comic and cartoon character theme.

All will start with the colourful musical parade along the main street to the Cochrane Park, led by classic cars and the Background Sounds Band.

Those looking to take part in the procession are asked to meet outside Alva Baptist Church at 11.30am on the day for the 11.45 start.

This year’s theme is a chance to escape the real world and be immersed in that time when cartoon tales were real and dreams were all that mattered – explained the organisers as they encouraged everyone to dress up as their favourite character for the day.

In the park will be bouncy castles, a roller coaster simulator, kick darts, fun rides and a slide, the Tartan Juggler, face painting, Owl Magic, classic cars, motorbikes, a fire engine, local mountain rescue volunteers, a tombola, refreshments including Wildfire Pizza and Mr Donut Man with a variety of stalls on the side.

The A91 through the town centre will be closed for the parade.
