MENSTRIE’S community-run library in the Dumyat Centre is set to hold its Grand Opening later this month.

The event has been organised by the local Community Action Group (MCAG), which has taken over management of the facility from Clackmannanshire Council.

A wide range of activities will be on offer during the event to attract as many people as possible.

These include a short bookbug session, a book-themed treasure hunt for all ages, and arts and crafts activities too.

There will also be two talks from Wendy H. Jones, where she will discuss her latest books: Bertie the Buffalo for children, and Antiques and Alibis for adults.

Louise Cannon, who is leading MCAG’s library team, said she hoped the event will spread the message that the local library needs “people to populate it”.

In future, the MCAG plan to continue holding events within the Dumyat Centre to further that ambition.

They have also turned the library itself into a Community Lounge as well, in the hope that this will establish it as a welcoming and sociable place for locals to go.

The upcoming event has been scheduled for Saturday, June 15, and will run from 2.15pm until 5pm.

Food and drinks will be on offer, and everyone is welcome to attend.
