AN ALLOA man is facing a prison sentence after carrying out a brutal assault in the town last year.

John McEwan knocked the man unconscious before striking him with a bottle and kicking him on the head.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to the attack when he appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Wednesday, June 18.

On November 25 of last year on Whins Road, McEwan assaulted a man by repeatedly punching him on the head, causing him to fall and render him unconscious.

He then proceeded to strike him on the head with a glass bottle before kicking him on the head.

Mike Lowry, representing the 28-year-old, told the court that his client was pleading to a single charge under provocation, adding that McEwan is currently subject to a community payback order.

Sheriff Craig Caldwell deferred sentence to obtain reports and bailed McEwan, of Scott Crescent, in the meantime.

He did, however, tell him that being bailed was not an indication of the sentence he would be receiving when he returns to court on July 16.
