AN IMPROVED bus service could benefit Clackmannan and Alloa residents with the return of regular stops at a supermarket at the end of July.

A revised Stagecoach 8A will stop at Morrisons in Alloa, following the loss of the First 60 bus which residents of the town used to take to get their shopping.

Stuart Adam, lead on transport at Clackmannan Community Council, has been working to improve local links in recent times and was happy to see a route return to the supermarket.

He said: “I’m quite happy it’s been reinstated.

“It gives a service back for people to get to Morrisons.

He thanked local Councillor Kathleen Martin for her involvement in making representations.

The Stagecoach 8 is also being extended to Falkirk via Kincardine, which could benefit those looking to get the train to Edinburgh.

Scott Hall, commercial manager for Stagecoach East Scotland, shared some of the details ahead of a launch event on July 22.

He said: “Due to passenger feedback, from Monday, July 29, we will be improving links between Dunfermline and Falkirk by extending service 8 and offering an hourly link to serve Falkirk via Kincardine and Skinflats.

“The 8A will also be revised from this date to offer a convenient link to Morrisons in Alloa and serve more of Clackmannan. Full timetables will be available in July.”
