A FLAGSHIP business hub in Alloa is set for a major £750,000 refurbishment.

Alloa Business Centre, which houses more than 30 organisations, is in line for a state of the art conferencing facility, a modern café, an extension to the front of the reception and improved accessibility with the installation of lifts.

The units are also set to become more energy efficient with external wall insulation, double glazed windows and a new heating system all forming a part of the improvements.

Owners Ceteris are set to roll out the development from early autumn with the aim of building on the centre's reputation as the place to do business in the Wee County.

Gary Wilson, managing director at Ceteris which delivers the national Business Gateway contract for the area, said: "I view the Alloa Business Centre as a key business location for Clackmannanshire.

"I've spent a large proportion of my time since becoming managing director in March investigating and constructing an in-depth redevelopment plan for it.

"These essential works will safeguard the future of the ABC in the digital age and give our tenant businesses the catalyst for growth."

Ceteris wanted to reassure tenants at the 92-unit centre that disruption will be kept to a minimum.

Gary added: "For Ceteris, the benefits are multiple.

"I envisage that the improvements will result in higher occupancy rates and increased conferencing revenue.

"I also hope that it will encourage additional businesses to set-up or move to Clackmannanshire."

Offices for let at the centre range from 138sq ft in size to 2,000sq ft with the option for larger, multi-room combinations.

Small and growing businesses could benefit from cost-effective hot desk solutions and shared office packages as the centre looks to cater for all.

The £750,000 upgrade package also looks at energy efficiency and the impact on the environment with improvements to the fabric of the building.

Gary added: "The external wall insulation, window and heating upgrades will result in a more effective and energy efficient Alloa Business Centre.

"This is a key objective for us as we work towards achieving the Resource Efficiency Pledge – Silver Level this year."
