A SAUCHIE man accused of possessing and making indecent images of children has been found unfit to stand trial.

Solicitor Jim Savage told Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 10, that reports from two separate medical experts had both reached the same conclusion about his 38-year-old client.

Specifically, they claimed the man – who has not formally tendered a plea to any of the charges – was unfit to instruct a solicitor to represent him at trial.

The accused faced a charge of possessing indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children between May 30, 2013 and July 31, 2018.

He also faced a second charge of taking, permitting to be taken, or making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children over the same period.

After considering the medical reports, sheriff Simon Collins QC accepted the accused was not fit to stand trial.

He then ordered that an examination of the facts should be carried out as an alternative.

The case will call again on September 16. with the accused's bail continued until that date.
