A DOLLAR couple hopes their bid to win a dream wedding will receive a boost at  fundraising events this weekend.

Sara Parandian and Keith Mitchell, who have been engaged for five years, are one of two local couples competing to raise the most money for Strathcarron Hospice for a chance to win a £14,000 wedding from Central FM.

They are hosting a race night at the Burnside Hall this Friday, July 19, from 7.30pm.

Then the next day, Keith’s former teammates at Dollar Glen Football Club will help throw an event with young people taking to the pitch.

People heading along to Newfield from 11am will also be treated for a barbecue for a £5 donation.

Sara and Keith both grew up in the town and have known each other since school.

Indeed, his father was her football coach but it was not until they were in their early 20s that they became closer together.

They are parents to a boy and a girl and it was during a family holiday Keith popped the big question.

On their fundraising page, Sara wrote: “Whilst on a family holiday up north, we took our son to find the lighthouses in the dark along the beach.

“Keith got down on one knee and asked me to be his wifey. Of course I said yes, however, quickly asked him to get up as I could see someone coming.

“We giggled and he put a ring on it.

“A few months later our daughter came along who became the boss from day one.

“Our family was complete and we planned on having our wedding soon after, however,r our priorities lay with buying a house and having fun with our kids.

“After a five-year engagement, we would love to finally be the Mitchells.”

Those who would like to support Sara and Keith’s bid, but are unable to make either event, can visit https://www.strathcarronhospice.net/fundraisers/sara-and-keith to donate.
