POLICE are warning users of illicit substances after a high number of recent overdoses.

Local officers said on social media a considerable amount of incidents involved street Valium and urged people to seek help with their addictions by contacting Signpost Recovery via on 01259 272 112

A statement explained: “There have been a number of reported drug overdoses this week.

“Although not exclusively, a lot of these have been involving white and yellow benzodiazepines, commonly known as Valium, which are being purchased from the street (not prescribed).”

The warning comes amid fresh revelations on the scale of the problem as in 2018 there was a record number of drug-related deaths in Scotland.

The statement from Forth Valley Police Division continued: “If you are consuming street Valium, or know someone that is, please be aware of the dangers.”

And added: “If you are in possession of these drugs or selling them and we catch you, you will be arrested and charged.”
