A YELLOW weather warning is in place for Sunday, August 4, with thunderstorms expected.

The Met Office put the warning in place as there is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly.

Lightning strikes are expected sometime between 12noon and 10pm on the day with a small chance that fast flowing or deep floodwater could cause danger to life.

The Met expects scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop across Scotland and northern England.

Some locations could receive 30-40mm of rainfall in one or two hours.
