ALLOA Rugby Club held a summer camp last week as it encouraged more youngsters to get involved in the sport.

All of the children involved were given a chance to get down and dirty with some practical game time before heading for the classroom where they were taught tactics by coaches including Scotland U16 coach, Stuart Edwards.

One of the coaches at the club said: "A massive thank you to all of the children and coaches who took some part in our first three day summer rugby camp this week.

"We hope that all of the children who took part enjoyed the experience as much as the coaches, who have really enjoyed working with all the children - not only those already playing through the club, but also those who were involved for the first time.

"They all showed great attitude despite the weather and threw themselves enthusiastically into all of the rugby sessions provided by ARFC coaches, School of Rugby Coaches (Alloa & Lornshill Academies) and of course the guest coaches from the SRU.

"We hope that it has helped build on existing skills and given those who are about to enter the S1 School of Rugby programme at both schools an introduction to Rugby to take forward and go and enjoy this great sport.

"We also hope that it has helped them to forge new friendships with others starting senior school with them in a few weeks' time."
