OUTDOOR enthusiasts in the Wee County were treated to a Woodland Fun event as part of Tillicoultry Community Week 2019.

Held at Alva's Woodland Park on Tuesday, August 13, attendees of all ages took part in some bushcraft-style activities under the guidance of Farquhar Wilson.

He told the Advertiser: "Basically we had about 20 people – members of the public, kids and adults, and four volunteers.

"We did some activities that the kids and adults could all do.

"The main one was cooking damper bread (a type of Australian soda bread), and the kids all loved it and wanted to cook it again.

"We also toasted marshmallows and did some bark rubbing using crayons and paper on the trees."

Thankfully, the weather was nice during the day and the sun even made a rare appearance throughout the event.

Farquhar said: "It was sunny and we were really lucky, there was a wee bit of wind which kept the midges away so it was great.

"Everybody really enjoyed themselves, and we had an awful lot of positive feedback from kids and parents saying: 'Thanks, I really enjoyed it.'"

And he was keen to praise the volunteers who helped him deliver the Woodland Fun session on the day.

He added: "I rely on the volunteers, and there were three volunteers helping me.

"And I'd just like to say thanks to everyone that came along and took part too – that's what makes the event."
