A MAN was arrested following his court appearance in Alloa last week after he was branded a high risk to "intimate partners" by the sheriff.

Alex Kay was appearing for sentencing after he pleaded guilty from custody to a single charge back on July 22 of this year.

The charge against Kay states that on April 25 at Chapelle Crescent, he behaved in a threatening manner by leaving voicemails of a threatening nature to his partner.

The court heard from depute fiscal Susannah Hutchison that Kay has previous convictions in England.

Kelly Howe, defending the 24-year-old, told the court that he could possibly benefit from the Caledonian Men's Programme in a bid to break his offending behaviour. The lawyer added that the accused is currently seeing a psychiatrist in Manchester.

Ms Howe added that he is currently subject to a suspended sentence down south.

Sheriff David Mackie warned Kay, of Newmills, Tullibody, that he should be "under no illusions" over his future, adding that his criminal justice social work report is "not a good one".

He added: "You are a high-risk offender, in particular to intimate partners."

The sheriff added he is currently the subject of a warrant for his apprehension in England and deferred sentence for Caledonian Men's Programme assessment and will appear again on October 3.

Kay was then arrested within the court room by officers who were executing a warrant.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed the arrest and said: "A 24-year-old man was arrested and taken into police custody in Alloa on Thursday 22 August in connection with a recall to prison warrant issued in Manchester."
