THERE was a "great turnout" and smiles all round at the 133rd Muckhart Village Show last weekend.

The event, which is organised by Muckhart Horticultural Society, was held in the Coronation Hall on Saturday, August 24.

And the group’s secretary, Margaret Johnston, said: “It was a great show and we had a great turnout.”

There was something for everyone throughout the day, with competitions and trophies up for grabs in a variety of fields.

These included photography, baking, vegetables and flowers – and children were encouraged to take part too.

Margaret said one of the highlights of the day was seeing some giant leeks which had been brought in by one of the attendees.

She said: “I don’t know how he’s grown them that length – they were quite something.”

Keen to praise all those involved in organising the event, she also said: “I would like to thank the people in the kitchen, and just everybody on the committee, because they all work really hard."
