A GREAT turnout and high quality of entries were hailed at the weekend’s Dollar Flower Show and Craft Exhibition.
The annual event, which has been going for more than 100 years, brought together the best in town with flowers and floral art, plants, preserves, baking, craft work, photography and more.
Organisers, who thanked volunteers for their hard work in helping to set up the Burnside Hall for Saturday, were keen to grab young people’s interest who also had several categories to enter in.
All exhibits were stage in the morning for judging and the afternoon, which saw the trophies presented, was busy with contestants and interested townsfolk taking a look.
Margaret Stephenson, chair of the Dollar Horticultural and Garden Club, explained the weather in the summer was unfavourable, but the judges were still very complimentary of the standard of the exhibits.
She hoped there was something to suit everyone at the show and highlighted the importance of capturing children’s imagination with various classes for a range of age groups open on the day, adding that the young people are “the future of the show”.
