A CLACKMANNANSHIRE care home was celebrating recently after they were recognised at an awards ceremony.

The Orchard care home in Tullibody was awarded the Community Spirit Award at The Clacks 2019 Business Awards.

Run by the Advertiser, the awards were established to reward and celebrate the local Wee County business community.

The winners of the ten award categories were announced at a ceremony on Thursday, August 29, at Alloa Town Hall.

The Orchard was shortlisted for the community spirit award category, alongside three other local businesses which recognises a business or company that puts the community at the heart at what they do.

At the glitzy ceremony, The Orchard was announced as the winner of the community spirit award, and staff who were present heard the care home was nominated because of the strong community links it has built with three local nurseries and two primary schools as well as volunteers and family members of residents.

Fiona Johnstone, home manager at The Orchard, said: “What a fantastic achievement. Everyone at The Orchard is overjoyed with the award and would like to thank all involved in helping us to maintain our strong community links.”

The Orchard, which is run by HC-One, has also been focussed on making improvements to the home’s gardens with the aim to provide a more relaxing and welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.

Mike Shea, HC-One area director, added: “At HC-One, the links between our family of homes and the local communities in which we serve are so important, this award is a fantastic achievement for The Orchard.”

Located on Lychgate Road, The Orchard offers long term care packages for older people needing nursing and nursing dementia care.

The home is also celebrating achieving a 9.5/10 average user rating on the sectors leading comparison website, carehome.co.uk
