A SPONSORED walk organised by a Wee County couple netted more than £2,100 to help support people with lung disease.

Eleanor and John Blady organised the fundraiser at the end of last month with the route taking participants from Alloa to Cambus and back to the Patons and Baldwins Bowling Club for a raffle and some well-deserved fun.

Hailed as a "fantastic sum", the £2,145 total was presented to the British Lung Foundation (BLF) at a meeting of Breathe Easy Clackmannanshire last week.

Breathe Easy, a local group helping people with lung disease, is supported by the BLF and the money will help in the Wee County and further afield.

It was a cause close to the heart for Eleanor, whose parents both passed away to pulmonary disease.

Thanks were given to the club for hosting the after-event as well as to those who donated prizes and took part.

Eleanor, a Breathe Easy member, said: "We had a lovely day out and it was well-worth the effort."

Receiving the cheque was BLF's communications officer for Scotland Graeme Sneddon, who was "incredibly grateful".

He said it was important people don't have to face issues alone and to have voices representing people with lung conditions, which the donation will help with.

Linda McLeod, who chairs the group, added: "We at Breathe Easy Clackmannanshire are so very proud of our member Eleanor Blady, her husband John along with family and friends in raising the fantastic sum of money for their sponsored walk.

"A huge well done to all involved."
