A SHERIFF warned a Sauchie man that his behaviour towards police officers was worrying as he told him he was close to going to prison.

Joshua Barnes appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday for sentencing after pleading guilty to three charges, including resisting arrest.

Susannah Hutchison, depute fiscal, told the court that on November 11, 2018, at around 5am police got a call from the accused's ex-partner to say he was refusing to leave her Rose Street home.

When officers arrived he "reluctantly left" but became aggressive and tried to get back in the house by "barging" past the police.

He then "squared up" to the officers before being arrested. As he was being taken to the police van, he began struggling and said: "I've smashed bigger c***s than you before."

Then on January 13 of this year, police got a call at around 2.05am and attended to Rose Street, Alloa where they observed the accused with an injured head.

The 27-year-old quickly became hostile towards officers and began raising his arms and shouting.

When he was warned about his behaviour, he replied: "F*** you stupid f*****g c***s," and was then arrested.

Barnes' defence agent said there was an "unfortunate theme" with his offending and that was alcohol.

Sheriff Pino Di Emidio interjected and expressed his concern that his offending only seems to arrive when there is contact with police.

The sheriff told Barnes, of Gartmorn Road, Sauchie, that his "offending is concerning".

He was sentenced to 18 months of supervision and ordered to carry 165 hours of unpaid work.
