WHEN her sparkly pink dream bedroom came to life in front of her eyes, Chloe Stack could not stop smiling.

The little girl from Knightswood, who is battling a life-threatening form of diabetes, did not just win our room makeover competition when she took part last year – she won the hearts of Evening Times readers too.

Chloe, who has DKA – diabetic ketoacidosis - fundraises for charity and speaks about her condition to help others. The eight-year-old has to be very careful about what and when she eats, and her mum Robyn and dad Paul have to get up three times a night to check her blood sugar levels.

Now, in partnership with RSBi, we are offering another lucky reader the chance to win a prize worth thousands of pounds – just in time for Christmas.

We have teamed up with the awardwinning construction firm, part of City Building, to reward an individual or community group going above and beyond to make a difference to other people’s lives.

It could be a kinship carer, looking after young children because their parents are unable to do so, in desperate need of a new kitchen in their home.

Perhaps you know of a local sports club for disabled children, which could really benefit from new changing rooms, or a children’s charity which needs a playroom?

Perhaps you would love to give a bedroom makeover to a young person, like Chloe, who has overcome ill-health or adversity but dedicates his or her time to the community?

Whoever the winner is, he or she will benefit from the excellent skills and high quality craftsmanship of the team at RSBi, Europe’s largest supported business where around 150 employees have a disability.

Dr Graham Paterson, executive director, City Building, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the Evening Times once more to offer a room makeover to an individual or group that has gone above and beyond to make a difference to other people’s lives.

“We couldn’t believe the number and quality of entries we received last year and were so blown away by those stories we knew we had to do the same all over again.

“Supporting communities is extremely important to us as an organisation and we’re keen to showcase and reward those who are giving back.”

Evening Times deputy editor Henry Ainslie said: “Chloe was such a deserving recipient of our first makeover. I’m sure seeing how big a difference it made to her after all her hard work will have been as big a delight for our readers as it was for us.

“Our city is full of people like Chloe - hardworking and inspiring children, women and men who selflessly give up their time to improve the lives of others.”

He added: “We are so pleased to continue this partnership with City Building, which will reward an unsung hero or group by giving them something to improve their lives.

“The people of Glasgow have the opportunity to give somebody a very special Christmas gift.”

Chloe still loves her glamorous room, which she shares with little sister Sophie.

“The great thing about the way the RSBi team designed it, she won’t outgrow it any time soon,” explained Robyn. “It’s made a big difference to us, with extra space and storage.

“Even the girls’ little brother Liam loves it. Now that Sophie has started school, when his sisters are away for the day, he has free rein to play with the toys.”

Robyn added: “We can’t thank everyone involved enough. I’d urge everyone to enter – I never win anything and I could not believe our entry had been chosen. We were so happy and proud to win. Chloe has a tough time of it and yet she never complains – I’m so proud of her.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing who wins this year and to following their makeover journey.”
