BRIGHTON and Hove Albion have been named one of the “greenest” sports clubs in the country.
The Seagulls are listed in the top 20 teams for its promotion of sustainability.
The list has been split into two categories – clubs with a stadium with fewer than 30,000 capacity and clubs with a stadium with more than 30,000 capacity.
Albion finished eighth on the more than 30,000 list, behind sports teams such as Manchester City, Wales Rugby and England Cricket.
The report grades clubs on nine “green criteria”, including use of renewable energy, converting light into energy, commitment to reducing carbon emissions and waste to landfill ratio.
The fewer than 30,000 capacity stadium list was topped by Gloucestershire football team Forest Green Rovers.
