When The Argus spoke to Keane drummer Richard Hughes ahead of this show he mentioned his delight at playing what the band consider to be their biggest hometown gig.

Hailing from just down the road in Battle, the band have always considered Brighton a second home and now return to play the city’s biggest venue following a five-year hiatus.

As well as all the classic hits, like Somewhere Only We Know and Everybody’s Changing, the band have a new album out, Cause and Effect, with a few new songs sure to feature in the setlist.

Live at Brighton Dome is the venue’s bi-monthly night of comedy that brings together some of the countries finest stand-up acts. This month’s show is headed up by popular ventriloquist Nina Conti. Her routine is completely bonkers and will leave you in stitches. But beware because if you’re in her eye-line you may well get called up on stage. Other acts appearing on the night are Lou Sanders, whose surrealist style and high octane stage presence make her a joy to watch; Angela Barnes, the Brighton comedian who is a regular on TV comedy quiz shows; Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Glenn Moore; and Guilty Feminist podcast co-host Jessica Fostekew. With five cracking acts on one bill Live at Brighton Dome rarely disappoints.

Guy Lloyd’s Celebrity Bingo

This is bingo, but not as you know it. Former Juice FM DJ Guy Lloyd hosts this raucous night of comedy, magic and of course bingo, with proceeds going to charities that battle against MS. Joining Guy will be former Big Brother winner Pete Bennett who Guy is hoping will inject some craziness into proceedings. There will also be a special magical show from Paul Zenon, comedy from Sam Savage, and a mystery performance from Alfie Ordinary. If you want to have some bingo fun and help a good cause this is the Saturday night for you.

The Wildhearts

Concorde 2, Brighton, tomorrow

Since their formation in 1989, The Wildhearts have been at the forefront of British rock music.

Led by frontman Ginger Wildheart, the group are known for their legendary live shows - often heralded as one of the best live acts in he country.

This year saw the release of their new album Renaissance Men, their first new record in a decade.

Fans can expect some new material to feature but for the most part this tour will celebrate the band’s extensive back catalogue - especially as they have released nine studio albums over the course of their 30 year career.

Ed Gamble

The Capitol Theatre, Horsham, Sunday

Ed Gamble is quickly becoming one of the country’s finest stand up comics. With numerous tours and TV appearances under his belt, he has proved that he is more than up to matching comics that sell out arenas across the country. It can only be a matter of time before Ed hits those heights, and seeing him in venues the size of The Capitol may not be a regular thing for too much longer.

Richard Alston Dance Company

Theatre Royal, Brighton, Tuesday

The Richard Alston Dance Company is embarking on its 25th anniversary tour where it will perform a range of sublime dances.

The only downside is that as well as celebrating 25 years, this tour will be the dance company’s last.

They are ceasing trading in April 2020 and intend to go out with a bang.

The show will feature dances choreographed by Richard Alston himself and Martin Lawrence.

Alice Cooper

Ever since bursting onto the rock scene in 1969, Alice Cooper has established himself as the man who spawned the shock-rock genre.

The likes of Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson have attributed Cooper as an inspiration to their careers.

The Alice Cooper band hit mainstream popularity in 1971 with the song “I’m Eighteen” and continued to release hit songs in the following years. Despite being 71-years-old, Alice has not shown any signs of slowing down, and continues to tour the world on a regular basis.

Will Young

From bursting onto our screens and into the charts in 2002 as the winner of Pop Idol, to hitting the road in support of his seventh studio album, Will Young has had a frantic 17 year career.

It seems a lifetime ago that Will Young hit mainstream popularity when he was crowned the inaugural winner of Pop Idol.

More than 13 million people watched Will topple second-placed Gareth Gates to steal the crown.

Now, nearly 20 years on, Will is still a hit maker.

Elf Lyons

In August 2018 Elf was planning a physical clown show with dance, tap, rock and roll and the splits. However, a couple of months later, disaster struck; Elf was taken to the hospital and told it was best that she never perform again. That is when she turned her show from physical humour to stand up. One of the UK’s fastest rising stars, Elf will bring her Love Songs to Guinea Pigs tour to the south coast for a night of entertainment.
