TWO parties are set to ring in the New Year in style at Stirling Castle.

A midnight and a family event are both being organised with entertainers and fireworks lined up.

The family event will see gifted young singer Gemma Lamont on stage, followed by Glaswegian outfit DLU, who will have an energetic offer of alternative and traditional music.

The midnight event will be headline by the Treacherous Orchestra who are set to electrify audiences.

Stephanie Cheape, who was named Scotland’s best unsigned act in 2017, will also take to the stage to entertain revellers ahead of the bells.

Both events will culminate in fireworks displays, set against the iconic backdrop of Stirling Castle.

Broadcaster and BBC Scotland announcer Jennie Cook will keep the crowds entertained between the acts at both events.

Councillor Chris Kane, convener of Stirling Council’s Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, said: “I am delighted we can now reveal the details of Stirling’s spectacular Hogmanay celebrations and Christmas Lights Switch On, the main highlights of our jam-packed Winter Festival.

“With a diverse selection of stellar Scottish musical talent and the fireworks displays set against the magnificent backdrop of Stirling Castle, Stirling can boast of an unforgettable offering for families and friends to party into 2020.

“There will also be something for everyone to enjoy throughout our ever popular Winter Festival, with a wide range of music events, Christmas markets, food and drink festivities and plenty of family entertainment. Stirling really will be the perfect place to visit during the festive season.”
