A TEENAGER has been given a fresh restriction of liberty order after admitting a series of offences including possession of a knife and using a stolen bank card.

Steven Brolly appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court last Thursday to await his sentence having pleaded guilty to the matters at previous occasions.

Susannah Hutchison, depute fiscal, told the court that at around 6.30pm on January 15 of this year, the complainer entered her home. Later on that night at around 1.50am she received a text from her bank to say her card had been used.

The woman subsequently cancelled the card and then noticed that items from her car, including the bank card, were missing.

CCTV was checked and showed Brolly using the card, spending £11.39 in total across two shops in Sauchie.

Brolly was also appearing for a matter which took place on October 5, 2018, when he was traced by officers on Alloa’s High Street. When stopped, he told police that he had cannabis on him.

The total amount was found to be more than £40 with a weight of 5.25g.

The 19-year-old had also pleaded guilty to having a knife on him when searched by officers on October 3 of last year at Arran Court, Alloa. He was also guilty of possessing ecstasy.

Kelly Howe, representing Brolly, told the court that her client is already on a community payback order (CPO) which has six months left to run.

Ms Howe added that his “engagement is very good and is addressing certain problems”, going on to say that he is currently working with addiction services to tackle a drug habit.

For that, he is currently on a methadone programme while having a prescription for Valium.

The defence agent also said working with the addiction team has helped him “take on a number of messages” and he would be willing to participate with another restriction of liberty order.

Sheriff David Mackie sentenced Brolly, of Arran Court, to a three month restriction of liberty order between the hours of 8pm and 5am.
