A WEE COUNTY nursery is celebrating the opening of its new garden and play area this weekend.

Little Stars Nursery, which celebrated its one-year anniversary in February, is giving locals the chance to visit the garden this Saturday, October 26.

The new play area has plenty for kids including a giant sandpit, bicycle track, pirate ship, outdoor classroom and pond.

Kevin Gilmartin, managing director of Little Stars Group, said: "For the last three months our team of builders and gardeners have brought together the plan to create the largest and most exciting outdoor learning experience of any nursery in the area.

"We are delighted we can now open it up for all the families of Clackmannanshire to enjoy."

There will also be a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) area and a performance stage with a viewing area for parents.

The theme for the opening day is pirates and children's entertainer Pirate Pete will be performing his magic and balloon show.

There is also a prize for the best costume.

The nursery, at the Pleasures in Alloa, is open from 11am to 1pm.
