THE efforts of air cadets from the Wee County were recognised last month during the annual dining in and award night.

Members of the 383 (Alloa) Squadron gathered at Coopers in Alloa for the event on Saturday, October 26.

High profile guest speakers included Group Captain Jim Leggat, Regional Commandant for the Air Training Corps Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier.

Also present was Wing Commander McRae who helped present promotions and awards along with the guest speakers.

Cadet Josh Syme was best male in sport while Cpl Arden Bruce took the same award home for the females along with the accolade for best JNCO.

The award for best drill cadet went to Sgt Lewis Kinney along with the one for best SNCO.

Best probationer was Cadet Kaya Buchan while Cpl Kyle Buchan scooped the trophy for best cadet.

Cadet Jackub Koniuszy won the endeavour award while Sgt Catherine Park received the officers commanding commendation.

Promotions were also presented by Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier; Sgt Lewis Kinney was promoted to Flight Sergeant, Corporal Arden Bruce was promoted to Sergeant while Cadets Jack Crossan and Josh Syme were both promoted to Corporal.

As is customary, the flower arrangement from the top table was later laid at the South African war memorial in town.

Warrant Officer Garry Henderson said the annual event was “an amazing night” and thanked everyone who came along.

He added: “Well done to all the cadets who were presented trophies and got promoted.”
