A PROJECT which aims to redesign Alloa Town Centre has been shortlisted for a major award.

Organisers of the FutureTown Design Competition recently announced the Living Alloa initiative was one of eight to have made the final.

Now in its fifth year, the competition strives to provoke ideas and encourage new approaches to design, in a bid to highlight what Scottish towns could look like now and in the future.

The Living Alloa initiative which has been shortlisted is a partnership project using the redevelopment of the vacant site in Primrose Street to create an intergenerational living environment.

Members of the public can decide which project they think should win by casting their votes between now and the deadline on November 24.

The entrant that comes out on top will then be invited to present their plans to an audience of policymakers and those from across sectors involved in supporting towns.

Phil Prentice, chief officer of Scotland’s Towns Partnership, said:" This competition is a great opportunity for individuals and organisations to showcase their ideas."
